At 40 percent below the average retail price, Apples of Gold makes buying blue diamonds practically a steal.

Another stunning option is the blue and white diamond swirl ring. This piece truly channels the beauty of the sea with a perfectly coiled spiral of blue diamonds, reminiscent of a scintillating wave. Flanked by nine white diamonds, this ring is a statement in itself, while still creating a classy look. The 14K white gold perfectly complements the diamonds’ brilliance.

For those wanting an edgier but artsy motif, look no further than the Roman Art Deco blue diamond ring. Set with a 0.75 carat blue diamond in the center and guarded by two 0.10 white diamonds on either side, this is a ring of style and substance. The blue diamond is set in a hexagon figure, ensuring the color takes center stage.

Apples of Gold also allows men to get in on the blue diamond action with a half-carat of ten blue beauties set in white gold. With a 10mm broad gold band, this ring is clearly man size and affords guys a great way to send their own message of sophistication.

With this 2012 collection of blue diamond rings from Apples of Gold, buyers can bring home a trend that’s sure to last. From solitaire blue diamonds to several stones, this jewelry retailer is quickly proving to be an authority in blue diamond realty.

Vertbaudet Launches New Children?s Clothing & Maternity Wear 2012 Spring/Summer Collection

Vertbaudet Launches New Children’s Clothing & Maternity Wear 2012 Spring/Summer Collection

Vertbaudet’s New Maternity Wear 2012 Spring/Summer Collection

(PRWEB UK) 24 January 2012

Mums and Dads can forget about the deep, dark and dank days of winter and look ahead to the promise of a stylish Spring and Summer season with Vertbaudet’s newly launched 2012 Spring-Summer Collection. The latest catalogue of children’s fashion from the French-based designers offers a huge array of unique clothing ideas, featuring a modish mix of upcoming design trends that incorporate clever, fun and practical details to suit parents, little ones and not-so-little ones too! Even Mums-to-be can look forward to nine months of style and sophistication, thanks to the new Spring/Summer range of maternity wear, which features a selection of fabulous maternity dresses and outfits for all occasions.

Budding Designers

As a leading children’s clothing brand, Vertbaudet are no strangers to innovation and originality, which is why in 2011 they launched their own Budding Designers competition. Entrants were challenged to come up with new designs for a raincoat and matching boots, the results of which can now be viewed in the Spring/Summer 2012 fashion collection. The young winners were selected from all over Europe, with the winning designs including an array of bold floral, fruity and nautical themes.

And building on the success of last year’s guest designer 100DRINE, Vertbaudet have kept the guest designer spot open, this year inviting LZC Studio to create a collection of exclusive stunning and stylish offerings for the new Vertbaudet catalogue. LZC Studio’s designs are inspired by nature, featuring bold colours and delicate floral motif designs, incorporated into a range of lightweight Spring and Summer girls’ dresses, soft textiles, and quirkily cute bedroom furniture.

But LZC Studio isn’t the only designer turning out new creations for the leading children’s clothing brand. Popular French designers Bensimon return to Vertbaudet for Spring/Summer 2012 with their collection of blouses, trousers and jersey dresses for girls. This year Bensimon draw heavily on the bright pinks and whites of summer florals, with their collection heavily accented with fuchsia, hot pink, candy pink, baby pink and cherry hues. The popular French designers have also included a selection of girls’ tennis shoes in an array of complementary pink hues.

Popular Collections Returning for 2012

The Spring Summer 2012 collection also sees the return of the popular ‘I Can Dress Myself’ range, the Organic Collection, as well as the seasonally specific Garden Party Collection that boasts a selection of smart yet lightweight party wear to keep kids looking cool but feeling comfortable throughout those numerous spectacular summertime engagements.

The ‘I Can Dress Myself’ collection is home to a wide variety of children’s clothing that has been designed, as Vertbaudet promises, with children in mind. Design features integrated throughout the collection include elasticated waists, big easy-grip buttons for little hands, pull-tabs on shoes, as well as colourful motifs that help kids to tell the difference between the back and front of a piece of clothing. These subtle but significant features are included to help inspire confidence in independent dressing and to make that morning routine much more fun! And whilst the range of practical but stylish tops, bottoms, jackets, dresses and shoes are designed to help little ones to dress independently, the fabulous and fun designs will leave boys and girls looking and feeling fantastic all season long.

The Organic Collection continues in the same caring vein, offering an array of baby clothing, children’s clothing and kids’ accessories. Pieces included in the collection are made from natural organic cotton that has been grown without the use of pesticides or chemicals. The Organic Collection features a number of fresh, bright and super-soft designs that help to protect young fragile skin, from super-soft mattress covers, newborn all-one-suits and cosy pram blankets, to cute bunny toys and soft and beautifully adorned pillowcases.

Maternity Wear

And Mums-to-be are never far from the innovative minds of the designers at Vertbaudet, with the latest Spring/Summer catalogue teeming with must-have items for that perfect maternity capsule wardrobe. The Vertbaudet maternity wear collections include cardigans, skirts and trousers that hug, skim and flatter in all the right places. Every piece is designed to look great and grow with Mum’s baby bump. The catalogue is home to a myriad of outfit solutions that will keep Mum looking chic and on-trend throughout her pregnancy, whatever mood and whatever occasion each day brings.

Innsbruck 2012, the First Ever Winter Youth Olympic Games Exceed Expectations

Innsbruck 2012, the First Ever Winter Youth Olympic Games Exceed Expectations

Innsbruck 2012, the First Ever Winter Youth Olympic Games Exceed Expectations

(PRWEB) January 24, 2012

The inaugural Winter Youth Olympic Games (YOG) came to an end in Innsbruck, Austria, with a memorable Closing Ceremony watched by an enthusiastic crowd at the Medals Plaza on the city’s famous Maria-Theresien-Straße. The Ceremony brought a close to 10 days of world-class sporting competition and cultural and educational activities specifically designed for the 1,000-plus athletes aged 15 to 18 who participated in the Games.

“By all measures, the first Winter Youth Olympic Games exceeded expectations and established a solid foundation for future Youth Games,” International Olympic Committee President Jacques Rogge said during his closing remarks, later declaring: “They were superbly refreshing Games.”

Addressing the athletes directly, he added: “You are role models for your generation. You have started something special in Innsbruck. And no matter what happens in your sports career from this point, all of you are equipped to become future leaders.”

The athletes helped to make Olympic history by participating in a number of events that appeared for the first time on an Olympic programme in Innsbruck ahead of their inclusion in the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games. These included women’s ski jumping, ski halfpipe and snowboard slopestyle. The Games also featured innovative new formats such as the mixed country doubles competition in curling; the mixed sport event cross-country/biathlon; mixed gender luge and ice hockey skills challenge.

Seventy countries participated in the Winter Youth Olympic Games, including Morocco, which became the first African country to win a medal at a winter Olympic event when Adam Lamhamedi took gold in the men’s super-G. More than 110,000 spectators supported the athletes over the course of the Games, as they competed at the world-class indoor and outdoor venues, with almost 35,000 fans packing out the Medals Plaza where the victory ceremonies and evening concerts took place.

“There were so many firsts at these Games, so many incredible moments for the athletes and everyone involved in staging this event,” added President Rogge, who had special praise for the 1,400 volunteers at the Games. “Innsbruck was a terrific continuation of the excellent work done at the first Summer Youth Olympic Games in Singapore in 2010, and it bodes very well for the future of the Youth Olympic Games.”

Innsbruck 2012 also incorporated an exciting Culture and Education programme (CEP) designed to help educate the young athletes on how to live by the Olympic values both on and off the field of play through engaging workshops held at Congress Innsbruck. The CEP also included the Young Ambassador programme, which saw 33 exceptional young people on hand to guide the athletes through their YOG experience, and the Athlete Role Model programme, which involved over 30 Olympians passing on their advice to the athletes.

In addition, the IOC President was delighted to welcome YOG Ambassadors Yuna Kim and Lindsey Vonn to the Games. The Olympic champions supported the young athletes in their sporting events and visited the CEP at Congress Innsbruck where they held Q&A sessions with the YOG competitors.

Another hit at the Games was the innovative, interactive USB key known as the Yogger, which was given to every athlete and official. In addition to providing the athletes with essential information in a paperless format, the Yogger acted as a virtual business card, allowing users to share information such as names and email addresses simply by touching their keys together. Swiping the keys against the various CEP booths allowed the athletes to collect electronic material about the activities. In total, an impressive 138,000 Yogger interactions have been made.

Media interest in the Youth Olympic Games was strong, with highlights broadcast in more than 60 territories, and over 15,000 articles worldwide. The IOC also brought the action to 8.5 million fans on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Sina Weibo, as well as via its website.

The next edition of the Winter Youth Olympic Games will be held in Lillehammer, Norway, while the second Summer Youth Olympic Games will take place in Nanjing, China in 2014.

Testing Success for London 2012 Gymnastics

Testing Success for London 2012 Gymnastics

Testing Success for London 2012 Gymnastics

(PRWEB) January 19, 2012

The Visa International Gymnastics a London 2012 test event and part of the London Prepares series concluded today and has been a testing success for the London 2012 Organising Committee (LOCOG).

Taking place at the North Greenwich Arena (also known as The O2), the event was vital for LOCOG to test operations ahead of the Games. Testing went well as workforce delivered the competition in an pre-existing venue and Gymnastics technology including timing, scoring and results were tested and performed well. The transition of apparatus on the field of play between disciplines was also successful.

Over 50,000 tickets were sold over the course of the seven day competition and the crowds enjoyed group and individual Artistic and Rhythmic Gymnastics as well as Trampoline.

Debbie Jevans, Director of Sport at LOCOG said: “The Visa International Gymnastics was the largest test event that we have run to date. As an Olympic Qualifying event we had to ensure everything was delivered to the highest standard and the team performed really well. The event has put us in great shape for delivery of the Games time event in what is a spectacular venue.”

In the Artistic Gymnastics team qualification event the Great Britain Men’s team took the gold medal ahead of France and Spain and confirmed their place at London 2012.

Great Britain gymnast Daniel Keatings said: “It was amazing, especially the support from the home crowd. We had to pull together as a team after Tokyo (World Championships), but the crowd really lifted us.”

In the Rhythmic Gymnastics the Great Britain team missed out on qualification after narrowly missing the score required to prove they were good enough for the group event at London 2012. The team scored 44.950 in group qualifying, falling short of the 45.223 target set by the British Olympic Association.

The results from the Visa International Gymnastics can be viewed at http://www.londonpreparesseries.com/gymnastics/schedule.

Professional Numismatists Guild President Optimistic About 2012 Rare Coins Marketplace

Professional Numismatists Guild President Optimistic About 2012 Rare Coins Marketplace

Jeffrey Bernberg, President of the Professional Numismatists Guild

Willowbrook, Illinois (PRWEB) December 27, 2011

The President of the Professional Numismatists Guild (http://www.PNGdealers.com), Jeffrey Bernberg, predicts the 2012 market for “mega-rarity” coins will continue to be strong and the popularity of modern issues and mid-to-upper range paper money will continue to get collector support during the new year.

Based on his personal prognosis and comments he’s heard from dealers and collectors across the country, Bernberg has issued an informal PNG President’s State of the Market Outlook with forecasts for five areas of the market in 2012: modern issues, mega rarities; low-to-moderately priced numismatic collectibles, gold coins and paper money.

“Modern issues will continue to be extremely popular, as we’ve seen with the recent sell out of the United States Mint’s 25th Anniversary Silver Eagle sets in less than one day. The huge number of collectors who support this market will continue to do so,” said Bernberg.

“Mega rarities, such as 1804 dollars and 1894-S dimes, will stay on fire in 2012, and we’ll see more world record prices for ‘one-of-a-kind,’ famous rare coins. The current prices for these Mona Lisa’s of numismatics will seem cheap in years to come,” he predicted.

“Typical, common numismatic material will be the laggards of the hobby in the coming year. Even with the potential of the economy improving, too many collectors are more worried about their jobs and paying their bills than adding to their collections. In some areas — such as circulated Morgan and Peace dollars, circulated copper and silver coins from the mid-late 19th century, pre-1955 commemorative half dollars and commemorative gold issues with the exception of the Panama-Pacific $ 50 coins — there will no doubt be more selling of collections than adding to them.”

Bernberg believes other gold coins, both common “generic” as well as specific dates and mintmarks, will do extremely well in 2012.

“Premiums — the percent over the melt value — will increase on generics as availability dries up and we continue to see the kinds of large purchase orders that have become prevalent in the past year or so. Premiums will work their way back to the traditional levels we’ve seen over the years. Rare dates will shine. Few collectors and dealers realize just how much rarer some gold coin dates are compared to common, generic gold of the same type, yet still sell for just a few dollar more than their common counterparts.”

After a decade of steady increases, the paper money market experienced price corrections in late 2008 as the U.S. was feeling the effects of a sluggish economy. Bernberg says PNG Board member and long-time paper money dealer James Simek points out that the U.S. collector currency market has stabilized and has begun to show increasing price levels.

“While so-called “lower-end” paper money items continue to experience weakness since buyers of that material remain on the sidelines, mid-to-upper range notes are doing quite well. Large size type notes and National bank notes continue to have robust support at auctions, and decent price levels are achieved on a regular basis. Jim Simek believes the 2012 outlook for U.S. collector currency is actually quite bright since those who have been around the market for any period of time realize that ‘valleys’ on a chart eventually give way to peaks.”

Bernberg, who became PNG President this past August for the 2011 – 2013 term, is Vice President of Rare Coin Company of America (RARCOA) in Willowbrook, Illinois where he’s worked since 1974.

The Professional Numismatists Guild was founded in 1955. Membership requirements are strict, and PNG members must adhere to a strict Code of Ethics that prohibits use of high pressure sales tactics and misrepresentation of the value of items being sold. PNG members must demonstrate knowledge, responsibility and integrity in their business dealings. They also must agree to binding arbitration to settle unresolved disagreements over numismatic property. A complete list of PNG member-dealers can be found online at http://www.PNGdealers.com.

For a copy of the informative pamphlet, “What You Should Know Before You Buy Rare Coins,” or a printed directory of PNG member-dealers, send $ 1 to cover postage costs to: Professional Numismatists Guild, 28441 Rancho California Rd., Suite 106, Temecula, CA 92590. Take Small Energy Savings Steps to Put Cash in Your Pocket in 2012

Take Small Energy Savings Steps to Put Cash in Your Pocket in 2012

Start saving energy in 2012!

Albany, New York (PRWEB) January 05, 2012

The new year is the perfect time to evaluate home energy use and make a stronger commitment to lead a more energy-efficient lifestyle. Experts agree that even taking small steps to reduce home energy consumption all year long takes less effort and can result in big energy savings.

Stay on track toward greater energy savings with these helpful tips from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA):

Watch out for build up: One of the easiest things to do is remove build-up in a clothes dryer’s lint trap before every load. Removing built up lint not only reduces the risk of fire but also will increase drying efficiency and could save the average consumer up to $ 34 per year. Additional savings can be found by consolidating loads and drying loads with similar fabrics together.

Keep water bills out of hot water: Identify—and fix—any water leaks in the home. Leaky faucets and showerheads, for example, can be a big source of waste. Repairing these fixtures can save up to $ 100 per year. And, don’t forget to inspect that hot water heater for leakage. At a rate of one drip per second, gallons of water can go down the drain in a short time, costing you money and wasting a valuable natural resource.

Seal the gaps: Air leaks can occur in some unusual and out-of-the-way places—crawl spaces, attics, overhangs, garages, porches and other architectural features, to name a few. NYSERDA experts suggest home owners have a Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® contractor investigate these problem areas and make recommendations on how to tighten up those gaps. Sealing and insulating a home could increase its energy efficiency by up to 20 percent.

Improve air flow: Rearranging home furnishings can lead to year-round benefits. Organize furniture and rugs away from registers and heating return vents. For optimal comfort, make sure the connections at vents and registers are well-sealed where they meet the floors, walls and ceiling.

Turn it off: Make a conscious effort to turn off electronics or appliances when they are not in use. If no one is watching TV—turn it off. Try using a power strip as a central “turn off” point for easy access in powering down multiple pieces of equipment—such as a DVD player, a Blu-RayTM player and a television—all at once. Once this becomes a simple habit, savings will climb higher for the rest of the year.

Count on the small things: When possible, use the smaller appliances in the kitchen, such as the microwave and toaster oven, especially when heating or re-heating small portions. Home chefs can use 80 percent less energy using these appliances rather than a conventional oven.

Clean and consolidate: Clean refrigerator coils—located underneath and behind the appliance—and repair any loose seals. Dirty coils and loose seals make the refrigerator work harder, causing it to use more energy. Homeowners that have a spare refrigerator may consider unplugging it or having it recycled – especially if it is only used occasionally. That old fridge in the garage or basement could be adding an additional $ 18 a month to the electronic bill!

Look for the star: When thinking about replacing electronics or appliances, look for the ENERGY STAR label. These units have advanced features that improve energy efficiency. For more information on ENERGY STAR appliances, visit http://www.energystar.gov

Home Performance with ENERGY STAR®: For more ways to save energy, ask an accredited Home Performance contractor to conduct a comprehensive home energy assessment, which is free for most New York homeowners. The contractor will discuss the energy improvements you can do in 2012 to save more on your utility bills, along with the incentives and financing available to make these improvements more affordable.

Consumers can find out how to qualify for a free or reduced-cost whole-house energy assessment in New York State, go to http://nyserda.ny.gov/home-performance
